Concentric HR

Established in 2003, we provide HR and employee relations support to both small and medium sized businesses who need an outsourced HR partner and larger employers who have a HR team but need extra help with a particular project or case.

We work predominantly with organisations in Wirral, Merseyside, Cheshire and North Wales, but we do also work remotely with those who are further afield.

What we do

We understand that business owners and managers can sometimes struggle with getting the HR and people stuff right. It isn’t always easy and it can take up a lot of your valuable time.

It doesn’t matter whether it is a routine query or a more serious issue, having us dedicated and available to support you means that we can do all the HR heavy lifting and you can focus on running and growing your business.

We are flexible in the way that we provide our services, and we do not tie you into long-term contracts. We are happy to work with you either on a retained basis, meaning that you pay us a fixed monthly fee based on your headcount or on a ‘pay as you go’ basis so that you just pay as and when you need us.

Laura Cross

HR Background

I have worked in HR for almost 30 years, over 20 years of which have been as a self-employed Consultant. During this time I have worked with small, medium and large organisations in many different and fascinating fields.

I have a CIPD Level 7 qualification in Employment Law and spend a lot of time keeping my legal knowledge up to date through my own reading and membership of the HR Inner Circle, which is a group for HR professionals with a particular interest in employment law.

HR Style

When providing HR advice, I will firstly apply my knowledge of employment law, but also consider the equally important organisational factors such as workplace culture, organisational structure, personalities and resources.

I support employers to make informed decisions on people matters which not only meet their legal obligations, but where possible will serve to engage and motivate their people. I take pride in giving business-savvy HR advice, and will always try to identify different options and explain the associated risks and benefits.

Having worked with so many different organisations across diverse sectors, I find that I am now able to quickly understand the particular HR challenges based on the organisational context and to tailor my support accordingly.

I have worked in HR for almost 30 years, across both commercial and public sectors with organisations such as Shell, Pirelli, the Co-operative Group and NHS. I hold master’s degrees in Strategic Human Resources, Organisation Development and Consultancy. My specialisms lie in employee relations, training and development, reward as well as coaching.

HR Style

Throughout my career, I have focussed more to the people side where I find great HR practice is borne out of building strong relationships based on trust, respect and ability to challenge thinking. My approach has always been about getting out from behind the desk and understanding what makes people and businesses tick. If you can’t understand the culture of a business, then your advice and support will miss the mark.
