Complex disciplinary and grievance cases require a high level of skill, knowledge, attention to detail and experience to manage effectively, and are also very time consuming. Appointing an operational line manager who does not have the skill or time to devote to the matter can result at best in additional time spent further down the line or at worst in a claim being brought against the employer.
